Ian's Task Chapter 3

Ian meets Elizabeth ( chapter 4)

The rain slowed down to nothing but a trickle when I exited my apartment that night. I didn't know where I was going. But maybe a walk to my favorite night spot would clear my mind. Opening my umbrella I stepped out from under the cloth archway that covered the entrance to the building.

"Elizabeth" I said not recognizing the name or my own voice for that matter. It was deeper than I remember. The one I had before I came here. Then there it was the single pearl white feather falling right before my eyes. Not a drop of rain had touched it. Reaching out it glided smoothly into my hand. I could feel the warmth it still had from heaven. I closed my hand and it disintegrated into my palm making my body warm all over.

"Find her" the soothing voice said. Sending a tingle through my body with every syllable.

This was the sign I had been waiting for ever since I came here. This would be my ticket back.

The words "Elizabeth" and "find her" rung in my head over and over. So much that I didn't realize that I was there. Only the sound the speakers bass from inside the club snapped me out of my thoughts. The neons lights reflected on the street creating a pattern even more vivid than the club itself.

Even though I was across the street on the corner. I could feel the sin seeping from the place. But to judge was wrong. It was the reason I was brought to this world. Forced to live in this temple, this body and among humans.

Curious what it looked like inside

I began to step forward but didn't dare go any closer. I was forbidden to go to places like that.

and shouldn't get distracted from my mission. But where should I look? Where to began?

I found myself walking into an intersection without realizing it. A car just missing me. I wasn't afraid of death because I couldn't die. I was already dead.

Death would be the easy way back and I knew it couldn't be that easy.

Once I finished crossing the street I looked back to make sure everyone was ok but there was no one there. The car already down the street around me it is completely silent except for one sound. The sound of weeping.

I followed the sound to an alleyway just behind a bakery and there behind a trash can filled with day old bake goods, a young girl. Too young to be out so late at night.

My foot glides passed a stray can and the girl looks up shocked.

"Please, don't hurt me!" she said standing up and backing away. Her skin was light brown and her dark brown wavy hair went down her back. As she backed away I noticed her knee length white dress all dirty. Leading me to believe she had been there for awhile or neglected and left there to die.

"I'm not going to hurt you" I said.
